PRESENTATION 10 %

• Do you use any resources: powerpoint, video, images, sound, realmaterial…?Are the resources relevant and attractive and focused on the topic? Do they support your presentation? Is the timing 5-7 minutes?

-Yes, in my oral presentation I used a powerpoint and I think it was relevant, attractive and it focused on the topic, and the timing of my oral presentation was around 6 minutes.

BODY LANGUAGE AND EYE CONTACT 10%

• Are you looking at your audience most of the time? Are you reading occasionally from your notes? Are you doing any gestures / movement to hold the attention of the audience?

-Yes, I was looking at my audience but I also look at my teacher. When I was doing my oral presentation I look from my notes a little bit. The movements I did were to show to the audience the different pictures about the causes of the abandonments of the animals.

STRUCTURE 10%

• Do you organize your ideas in order of importance? Do you use discourse markers to make your ideas more clear? (First, then, secondly, on the one hand, on the other, finally…).

-Yes, I have organized my ideas in order of importance. At the beginning of mi presentation I did a little introduction of what I was going to do, so I used discourse markers.

• Do you introduce interesting, NEW information to your audience? Is your information detailed and clear? Do you give / show examples? Is your information copied from a source or is it original? Did you look up information/facts/ideas in the Internet/books…?

-When I was preparing my oral presentation, I didn't look for the information because I know all about the topic I wanted to do...So I'd only had to organize the information, then I did a summary of the most important things, and finally I organized the information which were detailed and clear.

lANGUAGE 20%

• Is your grammar correct, complex? (verbs, word order, tenses learnt in class)?Is your vocabulary rich and varied (synonyms, idioms, phrasal verbs, expressions, topic-related vocabulary…)?Do you use sentence linkers? (and, but, moreover, also, furthermore, although, however…)Do you use pause fillers? (well, you know, for example, one second, repeating a word…).

-My grammar was correct, but some of the words I said wasn’t well pronounced.

PRONUNCIATION & INTONATION 10&%

• Do you know how to pronounce all your words? Did you check the pronunciation with a dictionary, a classmate or the teacher? Do you change your tone of voice or use a monotone tone all the time? Did you speed in a fluid continuum or with breaks and interruptions?

-I checked the pronunciation of some words but not all of them, that’s for these reason why I didn’t pronounce very well some of them.

-Hello as you all know my name is Sònia and today I’m going to talk about some cartoons which made us laugh when we were kids.

First I’m going to talk about “Tom and Jerry”, then about “Les tres bessones” or “The triplets” and finally I’m going to talk about “Shin Chan”.

Tom and Jerry

Tom and Jerry is an American Cartoon.

The characters are Tom and Jerry.

Tom is a cat and Jerry is a mouse and they both live in the same house.

They don’t speak, so it means that you have to interpret whatever they do.

Tom always tries to catch Jerry because it’s his work/job, although he rarely gets Jerry because Jerry is faster, smaller, more intelligent and moreover Jerry can hides himself anywhere.

Normally Tom prepares traps to catch Jerry but then Jerry tries to take revenge and he always gets it.

Sometimes they live like friends although it’s not the normal way.

Shin Chan

It’s a Japanese cartoon.

The main characters are Shin Chan, a five years old boy, iroxi, missae, himawari and nevat. Moreover there are his friend kasama, botxan, masao, nene… And the teachers yoxinaga and matsusaka.

Shin Chan is a very naughty child and his parents and teachers are always angry with him.

The thing he likes the most are all the girls that he sees.

And the thing he hates the most is the pepper.

As I said before he has a dog called nevat but he always forgots to takes care of him.

His favorite TV program is Ultraeroi.

Les “tres bessones” or “the triplets”

It’s a Catalan cartoon.

The characters are three small girls called Ana, Tresa and Helena, and a witch with her owl.

When the witch is bored, she sends the triplets into a tale, and then they have to help the main character of these tales to solve his/her problems, although the witch doesn’t want it and tries to make them fail.

 Fortunately she never get it and tales always have a happy end.

In Conclusion, the one I prefer when I was little was the triplets because I learnt lots of stories…

H: Hi Sandra! How are you?

S: Hi Helena, I’m fine, thanks.

H: We haven’t seen each other for a long time…

S: Yes, it’s true.

H: Would you like to go for a coffee?

S: Oh, that would be great!

(In the café)

H: And tell me Sandra, what about you?

S: Don’t you know? Last year I had a baby!!!

H: Oh, that’s fantastic!!!

S: erm…well…

H: What happened? Have you changed your opinion about the children?

S: mmm…eh…

H: I remember when we were younger you always said that you would like to be a mum..

S: Yes, it’s true, and I have not changed my opinion…I love my son.

H: So what’s the problem?

S: Well you know…

H: What?

S: I don’t like my breasts…

H: Why?

S: Well, you know…I mean, when you have a child you have to breastfeed your son…and then you know, your breasts are down…

H: I suppose so…But all of us experiment changes in our lives, don’t we?

S: I know, I know…but with the new technology we can do whatever we want…Can’t we?

H: Yes, yes...And what are you going to do?

S: I would like to have surgery on my breasts…

H: You are free to do whatever you want…but don’t you know the risks of plastic surgery?

S: Oh, please don’t be like my family…

H: ok, ok…I’ve told you that you’re free to do whatever you want…

S: Of course.

H: But know that all of us will have changes in our lives although the plastic surgery…

S: It’s true...Well I’ll think about it!!!

HUMOR IS NECESARY IN OUR LIVES...

It's true that human beings spend most of our time laughing about something or another. So, could we live without humor?

On the one hand, we spend most of our time laughing, however, people have got bad days in their lives, so we cannot be happy most of the time...Maybe we can live without humor, but then we wouldn't have fun. Moreover, if we are sad most of the time, then we may get sick.

On the other hand, we need humor to be happy and to forget our problems. When you laugh, people actually drawn to you, and you appear happier and healthier. Moreover, laughing with friends, family...make your relationships positive and enjoyable.

In my view, we cannot live without humor because it makes us laugh, and laugh creates our lasting memories...

Humans are necessary in our lives...

It’s true that humans are social beings by nature. So, could we live without human being?

In fact, that would be very difficult or I would even say impossible.

On the one hand, we cannot live alone because we are a kind of animal who must live in groups. Moreover, human beings are to defenseless against the nature that need the help of other human being to survive. For instance, when somebody is ill he or she needs someone who takes care of him or her. We rarely can do it ourselves. We need someone who cares for us and gives us help and charm in order to recover from our illness.

However, there is a negative point of humans as well. Human beings can also damage the habitat where we live which is not good for us. How do we do it? Well, we produce a lot of pollution such as traffic, industries, factories, and so on. We can even destroy lives when we become members of a war. Furthermore, human beings destroy animal’s habitat as well in order to get our benefits and because of this, there are many animals which have become extinct or are endangered.

In my opinion, humans need each other to survive, however they should try not to damage our environment and care a bit more for the place which gives us life.
